Jamey Johnson emerged in the country music scene in 2005 with his debut single, “The Dollar.” The song became the title track to his label debut album with the same name, released in 2006. The album performed moderately well on the charts, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number 87 on the Billboard 200. Two years later, Johnson dropped his most successful album, That Lonesome Song, which spawned the award-winning hit, “In Color.” The song won two Song of the Year Awards from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.

Moreover, the song received two Grammy Award nominations for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Meanwhile, That Lonesome Song also received a Grammy nod for Best Country Album. One year later, the follow-up single, “High Cost of Living,” also received two Grammy nominations.

With a stellar third album, Johnson released an equally-incredible follow-up studio effort with The Guitar Song. The 2010 album topped the Billboard Country Albums chart and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200. The record received wide critical acclaim, with some critics calling it “exquisite” and “mainly composed of killer, not filler.” The album eventually earned a gold certification in the U.S.

In 2012, Johnson released his latest album, Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran. The album features the vocals of Hank Cochran, Elvis Costello, Bobby Bare, and more. The album was considered a chart success, peaking at number 3 on the Top Country Albums chart and number 5 on the Billboard 200. In 2013, the album was nominated for Best Country Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
