Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill
Young The Giant are hitting the road with this Victory Garden Tour. These guys have been masters of the summer fests for years, and that's why it makes perfect sense that their road trip includes stops like the one here at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre. They're going to be in Sterling Heights on Thursday, June 25th.
To keep up with the summer fest vibe, Young the Giant has decided to enlist some company to help them with crowd control before they hit the stage. The Cold War Kids are going to be a staple of the entire tour. This is a band that's been rocking since at least the mid-2000s. Meanwhile, the up-and-comers of the bunch are Almost Monday, who will likely be the first band out of the gate. They're going to be singing "Cough Drops" for a main event whose flagship track is "Cough Syrup"; we couldn't have made that one up!

The stars have aligned to give us this Young The Giant stop this summer. It's a groovy experience that's going to help you unwind and just vibe. One of the great things about this performance is that it's not within your typical summer fest. Why is that good news? If you've been to these massive concerts where you're at the venue for days, you know you hit the wall at some point. The music's playing in the background, but your feet hurt, and you can't really grab another cold one to keep going. This time around, Young The Giant and company will provide a healthy 4+ hour experience, most likely. When it's over, you get to go home. That means that you can really go full throttle the entire day, have a blast, and not hit that dreaded wall.
A couple of things to keep in mind here: the first one is that you're coming into a road trip with a band that's promoting a new album. That automatically means that Young the Giant is going to play "Different Kind of Love" and the tracks that come from the Victory Garden album. We'd love to offer a little more insight into what those songs are going to be, but at the time of writing, the full release hasn't dropped! In any case, "Mind Over Matter" is likely getting a live rendition along with some of the other top tracks from the band. That might be a pivotal moment in the performance if it comes on once your feet are already burning!
Speaking of feet burning and wearing out, if you need to live through that experience, then finding a spot toward the front of the theater where you can stand and dance all night is a must. You can actually have a similar experience toward the back lawn at a fraction of the price. You'll miss the up close and personal feel, but you could save a few dollars, which is always good.
